Katrina Bauer, M.S. Gerontologist
Executive Director

After completing her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in Gerontology and Healthcare Administration, Katrina Bauer went on to earn her Master of Science degree from McDaniel College in Gerontology specializing in Neurodegenerative Disorders. The word Gerontologist comes from the Greek geron which means “old man” and the Greek word -logia which means “study of.” The title Gerontologist is not one that she bears lightly as being a Gerontologist incorporates all aspects of aging and focuses on the biological, psychological, cognitive, and sociological aspects of aging. Gerontologists view aging in terms of four distinct processes: chronological aging, biological aging, psychological aging, and social aging. Katrina brings this knowledge to The Peartree House and has paired it with her understanding of the Assisted Living business and administration processes. Katrina is compassionate and is in the practice of weighing all sides of a situation to make decisions that support the best possible outcomes. She is one member of the family who owns The Peartree House and looks forward to continuing the legacy of superior care that has been the standard for The Peartree House over the past 20+ years.

Heather Hall

Heather graduated from North County High school in 2004 and has lived in the Glen Burnie area her whole life.  She is a proud mom of 3 beautiful daughters. She works full-time and hopes to be setting a great example for her girls. Heather worked as a waitress for many years until 5 ½ years ago when she got a job at The Peartree House as a Caregiver.  Having volunteered at a nursing home when she was younger, caregiving came naturally to her.  After 2 years as a Caregiver, she refined her skills further and became a Certified Medication Technician.  She continued the grow at The Peartree House and was offered the Resident Care Coordinator position where she continued to put her strengths to work. At that time, she realized that The Peartree House was the perfect place for her to grow in the field of Gerontology.  Heather worked hard and was offered the Assisted Living Manager position in March 2021.  She has used her assets to accomplish many goals as the ALM such as identifying problems and swiftly coming up with safe and manageable solutions.  She supervises the training of new staff and serves as a resource for all staff members.  She works closely with the management team to reach goals such as providing opportunities for residents to engage through activities, ensuring adequate staffing to care for our residents, and developing relationships with our resident’s families to keep lines of communication open.  Through the challenging time of COVID-19, Heather has been instrumental in providing and following guidelines for staff regarding keeping themselves and our residents safe.  With the help of her team of Resident Care Coordinators, Medication Technicians, and Caregivers, she has been able to keep residents socially engaged with their families through window visits and FaceTime calls.  With the support of her fellow co-workers and managers, she has been contributory in maintaining and enhancing the standard of care that The Peartree House has provided over the past 20 years.

Peter Leimbach, RN, DN/CM, Director of Nursing Services

Peter is the son, grandson, and nephew of the five founding nurses of The PearTree House Assisted Living.  He proudly carries on this family legacy and provides a depth of knowledge in patient-centered nursing care.  Peter graduated with honors from Anne Arundel Community College’s nursing program and is currently enrolled at the University of Maryland School of Nursing where he has earned the distinction of Conway Scholar, pursuing his Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing.  Previously, Peter was (and still is) employed at Anne Arundel Medical Center where he serves as a staff nurse, unit resource nurse, and preceptor.  During Peter’s time at Anne Arundel Medical Center, he was recognized by his peers and was nominated for the 2021 Nursing Excellence Award for his exemplary professional practice.  Outside of work, Peter has been a high school coach at his alma mater, St Mary’s High School in Annapolis, for the better part of the last decade.  Since joining The PearTree House, Peter has been instrumental in streamlining and modernizing the documentation and implementation of care.  Peter started his career in healthcare here at The PearTree House, where he fostered his passion for caring for the elderly, as a Caregiver, Certified Medication Technician, and then a Care Coordinator before becoming a Nurse.  Having experienced each of these positions and has worked at every level provides great insight and understanding of his current role as Delegating Nurse. The PearTree House has historically prided itself on providing exceptional nursing care, a goal that Peter happily continues to strive toward.  Peter’s mission as delegating nurse at the PearTree House is to facilitate the best quality of life for all of those who call The PearTree House home.
